The Minoan civilization was located on the island of Crete. It is believed that the island was divided into eight political units at one point.
The Minoans were not limited to the island. The people had contacts that extended to other areas, including Egypt. Archaeologists even discovered signs that the Minoans had a presence in Israel. The Minoans took advantage of maritime trading and built up a far-reaching network that made it a dominant civilization at one point.
The island on which the Minoans lived features several architectural finds, including palaces. The Knossos palace is the largest from the Bronze Age found by archaeologists.
