What is an MMO name generator?

A Massively-Multiplayer-Online name generator is a feature that lets users randomly generate names for their characters. Character names in an MMO are typically either permanent or at least require in-game or actual currency to change.

Name generators are typically highly customized and take game information into account when generating the names. A generator for a fantasy game produces very different names than one for a shooting game set in the Wild West. Some generators take one or more in-game languages into account to generate names rooted in the game lore.
