The acronym SACKED SCOWS is a mnemonic device developed to help those who are attempting to memorize the steps included in the critical thinking process. This mnemonic device consists of the first letter of each of the 11 steps of the critical thinking process.
The steps are: Scouting obsessively, Authentic problems, Cognitive savvy, Knowledge attracts knowledge, Experimentation, Disposable time, Stories, Contrasting ideas, Other minds, Words and pictures, and Systems thinking. This mnemonic device was created by author James Marcus Bach. It is included in his book, "Secrets of a Buccaneer-Scholar: How Self-Education and the Pursuit of Passion Can Lead to a Lifetime of Success."
