The Volkswagen Amarok began production in 2010 as Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles' competitor to similar models on the market, such as the Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi Triton. As of 2015, it is only available for purchase in South America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Russia, and the rest of mainland Europe. However, Volkswagen plans to introduce the Amarok to North America in the coming years.
