Motrin does not contain aspirin, according to RXList. The active ingredient in Motrin is ibuprofen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). Motrin is available in both tablet and liquid forms in varying dosages, and it is used to treat minor aches, pains and fevers.
Ibuprofen is generally considered to be safe for most people, but those taking other NSAIDs or who have had previous allergic reactions to medications should consult a doctor before taking Motrin. Motrin can be taken for 3 to 5 days, but if symptoms do not improve after 5 days, the medication should be stopped until after the person has talked with a health care practitioner.
