Is the mountain walrus real?

There are several websites and blogs devoted to the mountain walrus, but no authoritative website mentions them. Walruses are either referred to the Arctic walrus or Pacific walrus due to their geographical separation.
The walrus's Latin name, Odobenus rosmarus, translates to "tooth-walking sea horse." Walrus tusks, which are actually elongated teeth, never stop growing throughout their life and can reach up to 3 feet in length. Adult males in the Pacific can weigh up to 4,400 pounds. In the 19th century, the walrus was hunted extensively for its fur, blubber, meat and ivory. The walrus is not classified as a threatened species but is considered near-threatened.
