How much do au pairs get paid?
By Forinfos - 24/07/2025 - 0 comments
The starting salary for live-in au pairs in the United States is $195.75 a week, which is $10,179 a year, states Great AuPair, citing U.S. State Department guidelines. This is just a baseline, and au pairs who have more education and experience may receive a higher salary.
Another thing to keep in mind when negotiating an au pair salary is supply and demand, Great AuPair advises. If the market is saturated with available au pairs with a lot of education and experience, it is possible for families to hire a well-trained au pair for a lower salary that is closer to the baseline. When au pairs are hard to come by, then even inexperienced au pairs may request a salary well above the baseline.
