On average, attorney's fees for a child custody case are $3,000 to $5,000 if the case is simple, states CostHelper. This cost can reach up to $35,000 or more if there are complexities to it.
The fees that attorneys charge vary from $75 to as much as $500 per hour because of the uncertain nature of these cases, says Cost Helper. This hourly rate also depends on whether the time billed is for an office consultation or for time spent in the courtroom. Other fees for things, such as books, court costs or the time of a mediator, are additional costs on top of the attorney's fees.
