Uber drivers in 2013 made approximately $21.95 per hour according to one unofficial study conducted by BuzzFeed. All the drivers who took part in the study worked part time, resulting in an average weekly take-home pay of around $739.12 and yearly take-home pay of $38,434.

A number of factors affected Uber drivers' take-home pay. The BuzzFeed study took into account the cost of vehicle insurance and tolls, but not the cost of gas or car maintenance, all of which come out of the drivers' pocket. Additionally, most of the drivers surveyed worked specific hours when Uber fares were higher, resulting in a higher hourly wage.
