How much dietary fiber is in an apple?

Mount Sinai Health Center lists the dietary fiber in a small apple as 3 grams, a medium apple as 4 grams and a large apple as 4.5 grams. Fiber can vary by preparation of the apple as well.

Mount Sinai Health Center shows that the same large apple that has 4.5 grams of fiber will have 5 grams when baked. There are 3.6 grams of fiber in a 2/3 cup serving of applesauce.

Fiber is important for relieving constipation and maintaining regularity, lowering diabetes risk, lowering heart disease risk and maintaining a healthy body weight, according to the Mayo Clinic.
