How much do food safety tests typically cost?
By Forinfos - 12/04/2026 - 0 comments
The cost of food safety tests is approximately $8 to $15 for entry level food handlers or at least $125 for managers. Non-management employees can take the food safety test given by the state they live in or a ServSafe food safety test.
Food safety tests are the final step in obtaining the food handler's card or certification that state health codes require of individuals who prepare food for public consumption. Each state's department of health or its environmental services department conducts its own tests and issues its own cards or certifications, which typically expire within two to three years. ServSafe food handlers cards are good for five years and in all 50 states.
