How much fuel does a cruise ship use?
By Forinfos - 22/06/2025 - 0 comments
On average, cruise ships use 200 to 300 tons of fuel a day. Cruise ships carry up to 3,000 tons of fuel for a trip. Fuel consumption of a ship depends on the ship's size, speed, destination and features.
Nearly all modern cruise ships are powered by electricity. The ships generate their electricity using diesel engines or turbine engines. Some may also use a combination of the two. The electricity is used to power everything in the ship. If the ship goes faster, the electricity flow increases thus increasing fuel consumption. The amount of fuel cruise ships uses differs from one to another depending on many aspects.
