This was the median based on 169 individuals reporting. On the pay horizon, top earners pulled in over $263,500, while the lowest earners saw about $66,000.
In 2013, according to the U.S. Department of Labor and Statistics, the median annual wages for this occupation was $196,270, with a mean hourly of $94.36. Wisconsin, Texas and California were paying some of the highest wages, at $252,390, $242,300 and $210,290, respectively. In contrast, Illinois was paying $130,880, although it has a high concentration of orthodontists.
