According to a Men’s Health, a man should be able to bench press 1.5 times his own body weight to be considered strong. Men’s Fitness backs up this view by and further states a person who can lift two times his own body weight is considered exceptionally strong.
The ability to bench press varies among individuals and depends on person’s weight and height, among others. Men’s Fitness and Health articulates that smaller men can be expected to lift more in terms of their body weight. People with longer limbs in proportion to their body weight are at an evident disadvantage as far as bench pressing is concerned.
