How much sun does a hibiscus need?
By Forinfos - 15/11/2025 - 0 comments
A hibiscus plant thrives in full sun conditions but will grow in partial sun to a lesser extent, according to SFGate. A tropical hibiscus grows in USDA Hardiness Zones up to zone 9, while hardy hibiscus grows in zones up to 5.
Hibiscus flowering plants take six full hours of sun a day. Less light results in fewer flowers and weaker growth. For container-bound hibiscus flowers kept inside, place in a south window and check if additional light is needed. Outdoor plants may require some shading during the hottest parts of the day if in extreme heat. They also require a moist, well-drained soil.
