How much water does a money tree plant need?

The money tree plant, Pachira aquatica, needs deep watering until water comes out of the drainage holes in the bottom of the pot. The first 2 inches of soil should be allowed to dry out before watering again.
To avoid stem rot, do not get water on the trunk of the money tree plant. The money tree plant does not need as frequent watering during the winter months, as the plant grows slower.
The money tree requires moderate to high humidity of 50 percent or more. Sit the pot on top of a saucer filled with rocks, and water to raise the humidity around the plant. Dry air can cause the leaves to turn brown.
