What do Muslims do to prepare for prayer?

Muslims have a cleansing routine and specific requirements to be allowed to pray. They pray on the floor in a room void of all furniture, pictures or decorations. They then must face Mecca.

The cleansing routine is called Wudu and can be done anywhere with clean water. Part of this ritual is washing the face, the hands and arms to elbows, and feet up to ankles, three times each. Mouth and nostrils must also be rinsed out three times each. Everyone then must sit on the floor, as everyone is equal. A mihrab, a niche in the wall, will designate which way to face Mecca. Muslims pray five times per day.
