What is the name for a vodka and cranberry drink?
By Forinfos - 04/05/2025 - 0 comments
The most common drink made of vodka and cranberry juice is the Cape Codder. A Cape Codder contains 2 ounces vodka, 2 to 3 ounces cranberry juice, 1/2 ounce lime juice and enough club soda to fill a Collins glass.
The Cape Codder, at least by that name, appears to be an invention of Trader Vic, first referenced in his 1972 "Bartender's Guide, Revised." A drink very similar to the Cape Codder was the Rangoon Ruby, which dates back to 1967. Even earlier, in 1944, came the Cape Cod Collins, which was essentially a Cape Codder with rum instead of vodka. The Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice Cocktail first hit the market in 1930, and there are no records of drinks involving cranberry juice before that time.
