Carsten Charles Sabathia, more commonly known as C.C. Sabathia, was born and raised in the United States. Specifically, he was born in Vallejo, Calif., on July 21, 1980. He is a left-handed pitcher who plays for the New York Yankees, as of September 5, 2014.

C.C. Sabathia signed with the New York Yankees on December 18, 2008 for an at-the-time record-breaking and highest-paying pitcher contract ever, to the amount of $161 million over seven years. He continued as a starting pitcher for the Yankees until 2014, when he injured his knee in May of that year. In July he announced that he had a season-ending surgery, leaving his future uncertain.
