Troy Polamalu is an American professional football player born in Garden Grove, Calif., on April 19, 1981. His heritage can be traced to American Samoa, which is an island in the South Pacific.
Polamalu played college football at the University of Southern California, where he was a consensus All-American and first-team All-American as a strong safety in 2002. In the 2003 National Football League Draft, he was taken as the 16th pick of the first round by the Pittsburgh Steelers. As a member of the Steelers, he played on a pair of Super Bowl-winning teams. As of 2014, Polamalu was named All-Pro five times and to the Pro Bowl eight times. He also was a member of the NFL All-Decade for the 2000s.
