What are natural methods to clean the inside of a dishwasher?

A dishwasher can be cleaned naturally by filling two coffee mugs with white vinegar and placing them upright with one the top rack and one on the bottom. Run the dishwasher on a hot cycle; once the cups overflow with water, the acidity of the vinegar naturally cleans the interior.

After a cleaning wash cycle, it may help to sprinkle a cup of baking soda on the bottom surface of the dishwasher and run a short, complete cycle on hot water to remove any odors.

Before cleaning a dishwasher, pull out the bottom rack and remove any plastics or hard chunks of food that may be causing damage to the pump or scratching a dish during a wash cycle.
