What is a Navy intelligence officer?

By Forinfos - 27/06/2025 - 0 comments

A naval intelligence officer collects and analyzes information about enemy capabilities. Information is gathered from spy reports, phone surveillance, satellite imaging and Internet searches, among other sources.

All military officers must possess a four-year college degree, preferably in fields such as international relations, political science or the physical sciences. Intelligence officer candidates attend a five-month basic course at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center in Dam Neck, Va. Upon graduation, intelligence officers begin a 30-month operational fleet tour. They have many opportunities for further specialized training and certification from Navy boards and organizations. Intelligence officers receive security clearances that can lead to other careers in the national security establishment.
