Pain near the carotid artery is not typically a sign of stroke, according to WebMD. Some of the common signs of stroke include numbness in the face or arms, dizziness and confusion.
Other signs include difficulties in concentrating, trouble seeing, trouble hearing and a sudden, severe headache. Trouble speaking is another sign of a stroke. Each person experiences different signs depending on the severity of the stroke.
When any person shows one or more symptoms of stroke, they should seek emergency medical help. The sooner treatment is administered to a person suffering from a stroke, the less likely that they will suffer from long-term issues.
