Do you need to read the Sackett series in order?

The Sackett novels by Louis L'Amour are a series of 17 books classified as westerns. They feature one family, the Sacketts, and their travels from Britain to colonial America and the Caribbean and then to the American West. Louis L'Amour planned to write seven or eight more stories about the Sacketts, but he died before he could do so. The Sackett books can be read in chronological order starting with Sackett's Land and ending with Lonely on the Mountain.
