Who needs CDL training?

While it varies slightly by state, individuals who need CDL training are anyone who drives a vehicle that weighs 26,001 pounds or more, anyone who is towing a trailer that is over 10,000 pounds and anyone who is driving a vehicle to transport more than 16 people or hazardous materials. Drivers should contact their local DMV to determine who their state requires to take CDL training.

CDL training is necessary to get a commercial drivers' license. A CDL is typically required for individuals driving very large commercial vehicles or vehicles meant to transport cargo, including people, suggests the Washington State Department of Licensing.
