The normal body temperature range in healthy adults is 97.8 to 99 degrees Fahrenheit, states the University of Rochester Medical Center. Temperatures vary depending on a person's gender, food and fluid intake, the time of day, any recent activity, and menstruation stage.
Temperatures can be measured via glass or digital thermometers that are inserted orally or rectally, but when they are taken orally, they can be as much as 0.7 degrees higher, according to the University of Rochester Medical Center. Temperatures taken under the arm may be 0.4 degrees lower than oral temperatures. Body temperature can also be measured via ear and skin.
