Do nuts cause gas?
By Forinfos - 24/03/2025 - 0 comments
Nuts and seeds are not significant contributors to gas, but if eaten in large enough quantities they can contribute to the problem. Nuts contain soluble fiber that is not broken down until it reaches the large intestine, which is a known cause of gas.
The type of nuts you eat will have an effect on the problem. For instance, almonds contain sulphates which create a more noxious smelling gas. Diet is not the only contributing factor, however. Activities like smoking and chewing gum cause air to be swallowed, which contributes to belching and bloating. In addition to avoiding foods that cause gas, over-the-counter medications are available that help reduce the problem.
