A review of results was published in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery with positive results, according to Wall et al. Of the patients studied, 173 out of 186 were satisfied or very satisfied.
The average constant score of those studied improved by 37 points, explains Wall et al. The best outcomes were seen in patients with rotator cuff tears with or without associated arthritis. Patients with post-traumatic arthritis received less benefit from surgery. Some complications of the procedure included dislocation and infection. The conclusion of the study was that the surgery was effective and should continue to be used.
