To crochet a basic flower, crochet a chain, and join it. Crochet a ring of single crochet, and create petals with double crochet, chain and slip stitches. Crocheting a flower takes roughly 15 minutes and requires yarn, a crochet hook, yarn needle and scissors.
- Create a ring
Crochet six chain stitches. Join the ends of the chains together using a slip stitch.
- Widen the ring
Crochet two single crochet stitches in each chain for a total of 12 stitches. Join the final single crochet stitch to the first with a slip stitch.
- Start the first petal
Crochet a chain of three to join the next row. Make two double crochet stitches in the first single crochet stitch.
- Complete the petal
Make a chain of three, and then slip stitch in the same single crochet stitch. Slip stitch in the next two single crochet stitches.
- Crochet five more petals
Create another chain of three, and then repeat the pattern of double crochet, chain and slip stitches. Make a total of six petals.
- Finish the crocheting
Before making the final slip stitch, cut the yarn at roughly 2 inches. Instead of pulling a loop, pull the tail all the way through, and then pull tight to knot off the end of the crocheting.
- Weave in the ends
Thread the tail of yarn into the yarn needle. Weave the tail through the single crochet stitches. Snip off the remaining end.
