How is oolong tea said to help fight obesity?

Oolong, or wulong, tea may help fight obesity by blocking the absorption of fats and carbohydrates and by increasing the body's energy expenditure through fat oxidation. In general, the tea may tell the body to burn more fat and at a faster rate while helping it store less new fat.
Oolong tea contains caffeine, polymerized polyphenols and epigallocatechin gallate. The combination of these elements may help with weight loss. Oolong tea may increase the body's fat burning rate for up to two hours after consumption, although the evidence for this is limited, as of 2015. Alone, oolong tea only has a small effect on weight.
