Open a clogged drain with baking soda by adding an equal amount of vinegar to the baking soda inside the drain, and then flushing the drain with boiling water. Depending on the severity of the clog, you may need to repeat this process more than once.
- Boil 1 gallon of water
Boil 1 gallon of water on the stove in a large pot with handles.
- Pour in the baking soda
While waiting for the water to boil, pour 1 cup of baking soda down the clogged drain.
- Pour in the white vinegar
Next, pour 1 cup of white vinegar down the drain. These ingredients combine in the pipe, producing a chemical reaction that loosens the clog.
- Flush the drain with the boiling water
Once the water reaches a rolling boil, slowly and carefully pour the gallon of water down the drain to rinse away the loosened clog.
