How do you open an Excel spreadsheet on Mac?

In order to open an Excel spreadsheet on a Mac computer, the file needs to be exported into an Apple-friendly software, such as Numbers. Once imported into the software, the spreadsheet can be edited or viewed on any Apple device.

Use the following instructions in order to export an Excel file into the Numbers program.

  1. Download Numbers

    2. Go to the Apple website the download the Numbers program.

  2. Download the Excel sheet

    3. Download the Excel sheet. It is recommended to direct the download towards the desktop so it is easier to find.

  3. Open Numbers and export the file

    4. Open the Numbers program, click the "Edit" toolbar and press "Import." Choose the Excel sheet from the list.
