How do you open a Regions Bank savings account online?

Regions Bank customers can open a savings account online by clicking the Open Now button under the desired type of savings account. Online savings account applications require the customer to provide personal information, such as personal identification, funding account information, social security number, email address and date of birth. New customers to Regions Bank can open a new savings account relatively quickly by following directions provided on the bank's website.

Regions Bank's savings account application includes a Get Started guide that requires the customer to identify if she is a new customer or an existing Regions personal account holder or if she already has an application in progress.

As of 2015, Regions Bank offers three types of savings accounts, which are Regions LifeGreen Savings, Regions Savings and Savings for Minors. Of these three types, only the first two can be opened online, and the third program requires the customer to visit a branch to open. Regions LifeGreen Savings accounts are available for customers with an existing LifeGreen Checking account and do not incur monthly fees or have a minimum balance requirement. The Regions Savings account requires a minimum daily balance of $300, charges a monthly fee of $5 and requires a $50 initial deposit to open.
