Is oral thrush treatable in babies?
By Forinfos - 02/02/2026 - 0 comments
Thrush in babies typically clears up on its own, but more bothersome cases can be treated with an oral antifungal medication, according to Baby Center. Nystatin is the medication usually recommended for thrush in infants, and it is available by prescription only.
To use nystatin, apply the medication to the white patches caused by thrush with the included applicator or with a finger, instructs Baby Center. It should be applied several times daily for 10 days. The infection usually takes a week to clear up, and babies may develop a diaper rash caused by yeast at the same time. This type of rash can also be treated with a special antifungal medication.
