Is an orange oil termite treatment effective?

According to Clark Pest Control, orange oil is an effective treatment for drywood termites, but it is not a sufficient treatment for subterranean infestations. Orange oil is only capable of spot-treating localized, identifiable areas. Orange oil does not protect against future infestations and is not an efficient alternative to fumigations.

Orange oil is injected into 3- to 5-inch holes that are drilled into termite galleries, located in infested dry wood. Termites that come into immediate contact with the oil are typically killed instantly. Once injected, orange oil only remains potent for two to three days, after which, termites can return to the galleries and resume feeding on the dry wood.
