Where is the ozone layer located?
By Forinfos - 21/06/2025 - 0 comments
The ozone layer is located in the stratosphere, a region of the atmosphere that is about 10 to 50 kilometers above the Earth. The stratosphere consists of approximately 90 percent ozone. Ozone has the chemical formula O3.
The ozone layer, also called the ozonosphere, protects the Earth from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Depletion of the ozone layer can be deleterious to the planet
The remaining 10 percent ozone is in the troposphere, a region that is between the Earth and the stratosphere. The different layers of the atmosphere are the troposphere, stratosphere, mesosphere and ionosphere. While the troposphere is the layer nearest to Earth, the ionosphere is the farthest away from it.
