One humane way to trap a mole is to locate the mole while it's moving through a mole run or tunnel in a yard. Use a shovel to block the entrance or one section of the tunnel. Take another shovel to block the direction the mole is moving in.

Trapping a live mole takes patience and perseverance. Most effective trapping techniques result in the mole's death. An alternative to trapping is to keep the mole or moles out of your lawn or garden before they become a nuisance. Exclusion techniques, such as burying thin wire mesh in the ground around the perimeter of the lawn or garden, are sometimes useful.
