Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon is a liquor produced by the Old Rip Van Winkle label through the Buffalo Trace distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. Pappy Van Winkle was the original distiller who began creating bourbon back in the late 1800s.
The company is family run with four generations involved in the bourbon business. This bourbon is popular with chefs and bourbon lovers who enjoy the distinct flavor of this wheated bourbon.
The main difference that Pappy Van Winkle has over other bourbons is the company's use of wheat and barley malt instead of rye. The company ages its bourbon for 15, 20 or 23 years to change the intensity and flavor of the bourbon.
