Is Pennzoil Dexos1 motor oil approved for use with GM vehicles?
By Forinfos - 10/08/2025 - 0 comments
Pennzoil oils bearing the Dexos1 logo are officially licensed and approved for use in General Motors vehicles designed for use with the Dexos1 oil standard. Dexos1-approved Pennzoil products include Pennzoil Gold Synthetic Blend and Pennzoil Platinum Full Synthetic oils in 0W-20, 5W-20 and 5W-30 weights.
The Dexos standards program is a GM standard to establish minimum requirements for motor oils for use in GM engines. Dexos1-licensed motor oils meet the standard for use in gasoline engines, while Dexos2 oils are intended for use in light-duty diesel engines. Oil manufacturers such as Pennzoil's parent company Shell Oil Products must license the trademark from GM to use the logo on approved products.
