Are peppers a fruit?

Peppers are technically a fruit. Botanists consider everything that grows from the flower of a plant to be a fruit. All of the other parts are classified as vegetables.
Since fruits develop from flowers, almost all of them contain seeds. Cooks usually separate fruits from vegetables by taste, primarily sweetness. In the world of botany, however, sugar content or the tart flavor often associated with fruit doesn't weigh in. In fact, even some grains and nuts are considered to be fruits. From a nutritional point of view, there is little difference between the two groups. Both are a great source of fiber, vitamins and minerals.
