What is the per diem meal allowance from the IRS for dinners without a reciept?

The regular per diem rate accepted by the Internal Revenue Service for most locations in the contiguous United States is $46 for the fiscal year starting Oct. 1, 2014, and ending Sept. 30, 2015. Alaska, Hawaii and specific metropolitan areas can have a higher rate.
The per diem rates are established annually and published in an IRS notice. When claiming the per diem meals and incidental expense deduction, taxpayers do not have to keep receipts, but have to substantiate the business purpose of the meal. Because the rate changes during the year, the IRS allows taxpayers to choose whether to continue with the rate from the beginning of the year, or change to the new rate on Oct. 1.
