What is perpendicular parking?

Perpendicular parking is done at a 90-degree angle to the curb. Perpendicular spaces make maneuvering the vehicle more difficult than angle parking, but the procedure requires fewer steps than parallel parking.
Before attempting to park in a perpendicular space, use a turn signal as an indicator for other drivers. Prior to making the turn, maneuver the vehicle so it is at least 6 feet from the rear of the cars in adjacent spaces. Move the vehicle into the space by turning the wheel sharply and pulling forward, after checking all mirrors. The tight angle of this parking space often makes it necessary to back the vehicle out of the space and pull forward again to center it.
