Are foxes dangerous?

Foxes are not dangerous to humans, but can bite a person if they have rabies, which is rare. They have a fear of people and will run away as soon as they see one.
There is no cause for alarm when a person sees a fox in their backyard. Usually, foxes come to homes to find food. Even though some can approach a person with the intention of getting food, they can be easily scared away by yelling or whistling. However, a fox can bite a person or a pet when it's rabid or when captured and mishandled. It is important to seek medical help immediately if bitten by a fox.
