How do you mix a water and sugar solution for hummingbirds?

Hummingbird food can be made by simply boiling water and then stirring in sugar. The addition of red food coloring makes the food very attractive to the birds.

1. Collect the ingredients

   Collect 4 cups of water, 1 cup of sugar and red food coloring.

2. Boil the water and add sugar

   Boil the 4 cups of water in a saucepan over high heat. Once the water has reached a rolling boil, turn off the heat and add sugar to the pan. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.

3. Add coloring and let cool

   Add red food coloring, drop by drop, until the hummingbird food is the desired color. Let the mixture cool fully before adding it to the hummingbird feeder.
