What do ostriches eat?
By Forinfos - 06/09/2025 - 0 comments
Ostriches eat a variety of different foods, including seeds, roots and plants. Ostriches are omnivores, so they do not limit themselves to a vegetarian diet, but may also feast on lizards and insects.
Ostriches are opportunistic eaters, and if a small creature wanders into their harsh habitat in the African desert or savanna, they just may make a meal of it. Notably, the ostrich gets most of its water from eating plants. Because of their exceptionally long intestines, ostriches are capable of eating things that other animals may not be able to digest. Ostriches have gizzards that help to grind up their food, and they will swallow sand and stones, which also helps them to digest food.
