What is the pH range for sodium phosphate buffer?

The pH range for Sorensen’s sodium phosphate buffer is 5.8 to 8. The pH range for 0.2M sodium dihydrogen phosphate and disodium hydrogen phosphate stock solutions were determined by Sorensen. Hence, the buffer solution is named after him as Sorensen’s phosphate buffer.
Sorensen’s pH range for sodium phosphate buffer was published in the year 1909 for the first time. It is established by Sabatini and others that this buffer cannot be used for certain scientific experiments done for plants. This is because higher levels of phosphate can become toxic to the plant cells. The pH range of 5.8 to 8 is attributed to the sodium phosphate buffer at the temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.
