As of April 2015, the phone number to contact Medicare is 800-MEDICARE, or 800-633-4227. The TTY number for those who are speech impaired, deaf or hard of hearing is 877-486-2048. Medicare provides answers to questions about billing, claims, medical records and expenses over the phone.

Anyone who needs a replacement Medicare card due to moving should call the Social Security Administration at 800-772-1213. Those with hearing or speech problems can call the TTY number at 800-325-0778. SSA representatives are available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
