How do I get pictures off an SD card onto my computer?

To transfer pictures from an SD card to a computer, use the computer's built-in SD card slot. If there is no SD card slot, then a card reader or the camera itself can be connected with a USB cable.

The computer may immediately prompt you to transfer all pictures at once from an SD card. Otherwise, pictures can be transferred manually by locating the pictures on the SD card by using either Explorer on a Windows PC or Finder on a Mac. Files can then be transferred by dragging and dropping them onto the computer's desktop or to any other folder in which pictures are stored.
