GPS devices are extremely accurate when used to calculate the distance between two locations. For example, GPS systems, such as those made by Garmin, are accurate to within 15 meters.
A GPS is a navigation system that receives its information from satellites which make it very accurate in measuring distances. There are an estimated 24 GPS solar-powered satellites in orbit around the Earth, traveling at speeds of 7,000 miles per hour.
The GPS device can determine the location of a vehicle and provide directions and travel times. Popular brands of GPS units include Garmin and Magellan. The devices can be easily attached to the windshield or console and are ideal for cars, trucks and recreational vehicles.
