How do you know when to plant marigolds?

Marigold seeds are planted outdoors in the spring. However, the seeds must be grown indoors with damp potting soil for about 60 days before transplanting them outside.
Use plastic to cover the seeds indoors, and find a warm place for the pot. A good spot is above a cabinet. Light is not required for germinating marigold seeds. Remove the plastic as soon as the first seedlings are visible. The potting mix needs to stay damp. Move the seedlings to other pots as soon as they have leaves. After the last frost, plant the marigold plants outdoors in a location with full sun. Follow seed supplier directions for proper garden placement.
